Kiacsoul 2011 Engine light on

Asked by Rosa M. May 03, 2023 at 05:46 PM about the 2011 Kia Soul Sport

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I own a Kia soul 2011, Engine light
on, inspection code is p0455
(evaporization). I bought new the gas
cap from Kia dealership. Engine went
away for about 5 days or so,  came
back on. They have to smoke it and
something about solenoids.  Does
anyone know about how much does
testing smokes and/or solenoids
cost? Estimate??? Thx

Get away from the dealer, they only want your money and most likely will mess it up more. Find a good independent shop and have this checked out. Now remember you have a 12 year old KIA stuff is going to start happening to it.

Thank you. Never had a problem with this Soul since I bought new in 2011. But yes, I know problems will be arising.

Looking fir about an estimate price on testing smokes and solenoids. Ball Park figure?

Depends on labor costs in your area, the purge solenoid runs roughly 50 bucks if you go aftermarket. A good smoke test most shops get a hour labor time but that does include some diagnostics. I suggest you watch you tube video on replacing the purge solenoid and you might want to just do that yourself and see if that cures your problem without spending money on a shop.

I replaced my purge solenoid by myself. It was a $65.00 part. It took longer to remove the part then it did to reinstall. Easy fix! No more check engine light.
