What does light maint reqd mean on rav4? We r on the road on a long trip in the middle of the night and the light just came on. Is it urgent or just oil change?

How many miles are you at? typically the light can come on because your gas cap is loose (similar to a check engine light).. it probably isn't anything that needs immediate attention unless you start noticing a major decrease in gas mileage or sputtering... check your oil level and see if you need to add a quart could be a good step to check, same with your other fluids, maybe your air filter clogged.. it could be a number of things, but unless anything is noticeably wrong, you can probably do just fine through out the trip.

you can turn the light off after you check your oil... step 1 Turn the engine switch off with the trip meter A reading shown. Step 2 While pressing the trip meter reset button, turn the engine switch to the “ON” position. step 3 Press and hold the button until the trip meter displays “000000”. --- oil changes every 5k miles is the normal fault to trigger the light

Maintenance Required light never comes on due to a loose gas cap. The check engine light comes on for a loose gas cap. Your Maintenance Required light is due to needing an oil change. If you have recently got an oil change, the person who changed it probably forgot to reset the light.

With the 2004, 2005 model the odometer should be at the total mileage rather than at Trip A

Thanks, that worked on my 2005 RAV4.I kept trying trip A and that does not work on a 2005 RAV4. The YouTube videos are misleading.
