Starting Issue

Asked by Cgadget Aug 10, 2016 at 11:54 PM about the 2011 Toyota Yaris Sedan

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

2011 Toyota Yaris 4dr sedan automatic
trans will turn over fine and all dash lights
normal but will not start. It had some
collision damage to passenger side but was
not severe. Replaced ignition switch
because car had been stolen from me and
they broke the switch. No other issues had
semed to be tampered with. Is there any
particular things i could check that may be
causing this issue? If so, what are they and
what is most common for this problem to
occur?

Any help apreciated,
Cgadget

Check for spark, and check for fuel. When you turn key to on, you will hear a high pitched noise for about two seconds, the fuel pump is in the gas tank. If you don't then you have to diagnose why pump is not running. An emergency trick only is to rap the bottom of the tank, sometimes pump has seized by running car out of gas. Hope this gives you a good start.
