won't start, won't crank. Full battery. security lock on audio headunit

Asked by Connman55 Jun 09, 2019 at 10:14 AM about the 2011 Volkswagen Jetta SE

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I was replacing the speakers and installing a sub woofer and amp in the
trunk. Once took off all the door panels, I had to drive/move the vehicle. once
parked I remove the old speakers and installed the new ones.  I only touched
audio lines.  the new power line for the amp has not yet been attached. I
tried to turn on the vehicle to check the speakers and the car would not start
or crank. I heard 5 low tones followed by 1 high tone.  The head unit (audio
display) prompted a 4 digit password.  I bought the vehicle used so I don't
know the password.  The vehicle had no warning lights before this.  I think
some software security issue is locking me out.  Any Ideas?

I put subs in my 2011 Chevy Malibu and ever since I’ve had problems with the anti theft system kicking on at random times when the cars parked. Doesn’t happen very often but it still happens. But what I do is take the positive off the battery and hold it for about 10-15 seconds then put it back on and it resets everything and unlocks the car.

GuruS8BQB I tried that and it didn't seam to fix anything. I forgot to mention that my four ways flash and my wipers are turning even though the switch is off. Thanks for your advise though. It was worth a try.
