Gas Mileage

I'm on my 3rd yukon .. owed a 2002, 2008 and now
2011. The 2011 is an SLT 5.3L V8.  It's displayed
11.1 average mpg on the dash since I bough it
recently. Fueleconomy.gov is showing the
suggested gas mileage at 13mpg - 18mp for this
vehicle. I was even getting 13 MPG on my 2008
Denali with a 6.2L V8. Not to mention I can feel the
gas waisting a bit faster on this 2011 yukon. So yes,
a truck owners worse nightmare, worse gas mileage
and decreased power by going from a 6.2 to 5.3,
trust me, you'll notice.  This 2011 yukon even
switches from V8 to V4 depending on how much
gas I give it, so it looks like its manufactured to be
more fuel efficient, yet and still it shows 11.1 MPG.

With all that being said, how can this truck really be
getting worse gas mileage than the bigger engine?
And what can I do to improve the gas mileage if it is
indeed accurately displaying the lower MPG. Thank
you in advance.

Its Heavy as H**L the smaller motor is working over time hauling it around, bigger motor does not have to work as hard, but it may need a tune up.
