Sounds like the valves in the rack and pinion is sticking try adding some Lucas Power Steering Stop Leak to power steering pump it not only stops leaks but corrects hard steering by lubricanting the valves and seals in the rack and pinion.

i am staying in Saudi arabia i am maintaining my car with petromin service center and i think they use steering oil ATF. Lucas power steering stop leak can be compatible with ATF fluid
