Without a color coded wiring diagram the most you can do is check the fuse associated with the lights. Digging through enough dashboards I have noticed most dash controls are controlled by light gauge wire. Probably meaning the switching for the lights are relay controlled. Checking the switch for continuity is a possibility, but that means pulling the underside of the dash down to get to the switch.
