2007 F150 5.4 L TRITON 4X4 EXT CAB Not starting just rapid clicking

Asked by Diana May 16, 2023 at 12:15 AM about the 2007 Ford F-150 XLT SuperCab 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

It had difficulties starting when I bought it a year ago.  I took it back to the
dealer and he installed a push button start.  I replaced the starter about 4
months ago. There's obviously a lot or reasons this could be happening. I don't
know what the most likely problem is but I hope someone can help me
troubleshoot this issue.

Rapid clicking is a low voltage problem, could be a battery, battery cables, engine grounds and I have seen some internal solenoid trouble. So make sure the battery passes a load test and if that is not the problem move onto voltage drop tests on all the cables.

Buy OEM parts/starter/alt. You can't base new problems on past history , things need to be tested to find the problem .. Hopefully the wiring job from the start button is not the problem
