My 2011 Ford Explorer makes a 'clunk' noise when begin put in gear and shakes when accelerating from a stopped

Sounds like a universal joint or drive shaft issue. But with that new a vehicle hard to believe they are bad. Good luck.

Is the clunk sound when it is removed from park or when being placed in drive or reverse. Mine will make a clunk noise if I'm parked on a slight incline and remove the shift lever from park.

My original thought was a motor/tranny mount or joint shaft. However, since this is your fifth trip back those items can be visually diagnosed by putting the car on a hoist. I believe you have a serious issue.

If they want to change out the tranny, make sure it is one from Ford, and new. A friend operates one of those chain tranny shops. He does the tranny work for one of the dealerships.

have them check the bolts on your motor and tranny mounts
