Question type: Shopping & Pricing

I'm about to bye a new GMC 2500HD, it has the 3.7 gear ratio.  My question is, what is the difference between this and the 4.1 gear ratio

Do you know what gears do and why we use different ratios? What are you trying to do with your truck? If you were going with larger tires you will want to get a higher ratio. I'm not going to recommend which one without knowing more about it but it will help your motor balance out it's power with your new tires. Also if you were looking to tow with your truck you could use new gears Or if you just wanted a little more power but it's not a cheap/easy job. You are going to have to look into reprogramming your speedometer after re gearing.
