How to reset the a/c system on 11 equinox

My a/c is on all the time and when I toggle the compressor switch on the
console it says its off but continues to run. How do you reset the system.  Car
has been at the shop for two years until new engine was just put in and the
battery has been dead.  Thanks

Unplug the compressor clutch. If the compressor continues to run even with the clutch unplugged the clutch is bad and needs to be replaced. Hope that helps! Jim
