Trunk will not open

Hello, I have a 2006 750LI and I can’t not open the trunk.  The car also has
comfort assist.  I have tried the trunk release button on the left hand side of
the dash, the remote, and the key(Metal out of the FOB).  The comfort
assist is working it goes up and down about a 1/2 inch, but the lock is not
releasing.  I also went through the back seat and pulled the emergency
assist cable the same issue the comfort assist goes on, up and down about
1/2 inch.  If it has a manual push pull rod to unlock the lock it may be off.  
Suggestions need a helping hand.

Did you have someone pull up on the trunk while trying to open it? It might have something in the latch assembly, like a rag or a piece of clothing.
