Getting my car to respond and communicate with obd2 scanner

There is a I/O ports setting on the hidden menu in
the instrument cluster that is opperational after
adding up the last five numbers of the VIN number.
Does this setting need to be set at a certain setting  
to get the obd2 to communicate? Because so far I
cant get this to happen and I have checked port
wires and they are all good.

Yes it is. But like I have said in my question, there is I/O ports settings in the hidden menu. I think this is the reason for no communication. This hidden menu has to be accessed by adding the last 5 vin numbers. The total is the code# to access.
