Question type: Maintenance & Repair

2006 650i Convertible Top.
When trying to lower the top down, I get an error message "ConvertibleTop -
Emergency Function".  Message comes on right away when the button is
pressed, windows don't even start to go down, etc.

SOS!

This is so easy it's almost ridiculous. You have a bad sensor. So, here's the quick answer - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qpOMe5HXOQk. The location/direction of the sensor is likely off. I spent well over $1000 at the dealership (did NOT fix) before I found this answer. I ultimately had my husband replace the sensor which was quite simple. https://blog.bavauto.com/3758/bmw-e64-645ci-650ci-convertible-top-not-locked-warning/
