What automatic transmission do you have in the 323i? The GM or ZF transmission? You can look at the sticker on the pan.

If the 325i has the same brand transmission, you can swap it. If you are using a different one, some programming might be required.

The 2003 325i should have been built with a A5S 360R 5L40 transmission, the 323i should have the GM 5L40 unless it was a later model built after 3/2000, then it will have the A5S 325Z 5HP 19 ZF transmission.

Both stickers are green and look and trans look very similar. I was told the zf trans has a blue sticker? Or vise versa. But both stickers so works i can read anything on it
