Engine heating problem

Hey I got a problem with my BMW 328CI E46,
my engine temperature goes from normal to
hot while idling, when I start driving or if i turn
the engine off and then start it temperature
goes back to normal(today temperature went
form normal to below normal and then back to
normal and after a while it started to overheat,
I turned the engine off and then on and the
temperature was normal), when I start the car
cold and let it heat up sometimes the coolant
light turns on and then off, it also turns on and
off while driving, i have bleed the coolant
system three times now, whenever I bleed it
these problems go away and after few weeks
they come right back. Could someone help
me understand what is wrong with my car?

Are you losing any coolant? That's very strange that it would be temporarily fixed from bleeding the system.
