Question type: Maintenance & Repair

i just drove two hours up to San Antonio in my bmw and i had just over half of oil level
left and when i reach it showed i still had some left over and when i got into my car
this morning n started to drive it felt a little funny (vibrating) so i checked the oil level
and it showed it had none so i bought 4 Qt and with in 2 hours i put in 3 Qt and it still
doesnt show full , it still vibrates but a little more now and sometimes when im at a red
light it vibrates very bad for 3 seconds and then stop , only today after the 3rd time it
happened the service engine soon light came on , can anybody tell me if it was the oil
thing or its something more serious and i should get it checked right away.

Stop what u are doing you are about to cause serious damage to your vehicle that will certainly cost u thousands! Tow your car to a shop. If you were really low on oil the oil light should come on. Never drive with the oil light on ever. Sounds like you over filled. it will not know if you did, but still not good.

I don't have a good feeling about your engine. If you damaged your main bearings and crank, you're talking about very expensive repairs. Sounded like you were burning oil even before this happened because of the amount of oil you were using. Hope I'm wrong

You are losing a LOT of oil. Any signs of leaks - puddles of oil on the ground? Get it to the dealer or a shop, sadly the damage may be done.

oil is going somewhere , some must be going into the piston area causing misfire misfire will, set check engine light on. look for smoke burning oil or puddle under running car,

The oil light never came on but when I checked to see what it was it showed it didnt have any , I only drove to an autozone the was two miles down the road , there is no puddle under the car either

when the stick shows nothing ,it still has a little more feeding the pump, when that is gone the pressure switch lights the red oil light and then the piston rings will be the first to lock up from no lube, and that happens in 1/8 mile real quick. don't push the luck too costley
