Definitely..without a shadow of a doubt...The Mitsubishi Outlander. It has a very reliable track record, isn't overly expensive and comes well equipped, even with the lower trims, ie. SE Model. The Suzuki Grand Vitara is a headache on 4 wheels and hasn't been a good performer. Check Consumer Reports or Edmunds.com.

for smoothness of ride, the suzuki (we used to call suicide kick) fails miserably with their Catalytic converter which is often faulty on these jobs.
