I just had my oil changed. engine light came on It stayed on for one day then two days later it came back on. The codes are P0008 and P0496. Does this have anything to do with oil?

The second code has to do with the EVAP system so maybe the gas cap is loose. The first code is generic and has to do with the cam shaft timing. I doubt this is related to the oil change but did you check the oil level?

Thanks. No I haven't checked the oil. I have noticed that the light comes on right before I need gas. So, I'm thinking it has something to do with my gas cap. I just thought it was odd, that these lights have never been on until I had someone change my oil.

Omg I just had this identical problem. I had my oil changed and as I was driving home it came on and a few days later I had it plugged in and got these same codes. I have a 2009 Chevy traverse.
