Check charging system 2011 ford edge

Asked by Guru934TRP Mar 12, 2023 at 01:53 PM about the 2011 Ford Edge SE

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2011 ford edge keeps popping up check charging system. The first time it
happened was February 2022, I had the battery and alternator replaced and
everything was fine until October 2022.

It popped up again, and the car eventually died on us. We had the alternator
replaced once again but the battery was still fine and holds a charge when we
charge it up (battery is dated 2/22 so only a year old now).

We attempted to drive it the other day and it was fine for the entire 30 minutes
we drove it around. We went to do the same thing the following day and about
10 minutes in it popped up and the dash lights were flicking on and off I’m
assuming indicating the car was about to die.

Not sure what else can be affecting the car as the alternator is brand new &
battery is still fine. I’m unfortunately still stuck making payments on this car for
a while so would like to be able to repair it so I’m not paying for something
that’s just sitting.

Who ever works on your car should be able to check the charging system in real time , Check fuses and mega fuses for discoloration on the contact tabs . Look for any obvious wiring problems .Look for good motor to chassis ground
