Are you saying when you start off from a dead stop the vehicle is in first gear, then shifts to second gear, and when it tries to shift again, the transmission just slip with no power to the wheel? If so, you have to visit a tranny shop, regardless if you have the four or six speed transmission.

Sound like the direct clutch or the overdrive band is gone. If it works fine in 3 but revs to the moon in O. Then. It is the OD band not holding. That could be the band or the servo or a valve body leak. It for a overhaul.
