Car won't start

Asked by Jul 26, 2017 at 06:04 AM about the 2005 Ford Focus ZX4 S

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

A few weeks ago, my car sucked water through its
exhaust, When it did, mother shut off and when I turn the
key, it automatically wouldn't turn over, so I sucked water
out of pistons and attempt to to push start it (5 speed
standard) but nothing. When I turn my key over, the starter
will click once, but motor won't try and turn over at all, it's
just one click, any idea in what to do?

make sure the batt. terminals are clean and tight , if you were in water like that the starter may have been ruined , it's an electric motor and water ain't good for it , don't buy cheap , some rebuilds are junk out of the box

with the plugs out you should be able to turn it by hand , if not I guess your motor is seized , but I don't think a little water would do that

Ok I'm going to take starter off and go have it checked

Worst case scenario it hydrolocked, does it turn over when you try to push start it?
