Cracked valve cover (2009 kia sedona)

Asked by Louis Dec 01, 2021 at 03:29 PM about the 2009 Kia Sedona EX

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

How many hours of labor does it take to replace a valve
cover on a 09 kia sedona? The shop I took it to is telling me
13 hours and that seems excessive.

I AGREE! Even us backyard mechanics think replacing a valve cover takes under 2 hours even if a significant amount of scraping is needed to smooth out the surfaces of the head and old cover. Most mechanics charge you a standard shop fee for things like this. I would ask him to show you his source for the 13 hours of work he will do.

It should be about $650 at a dealer, $500 at an independent mechanic
