Have a shop do an amperage draw test. They will have the specs on just how much power it should take. However most Toyota starters that I have seen fail usually just up and quit, no warning, very few have gone over limit on power usage.

If it works, don't fix it! My '93 Caprice, which I bought brand new, went to the junkyard with its original starter in 2014. Jim
