Computer has picked up on something wrong, you will have to get the codes read to find out where to go with diagnostics. It is most likely safe to drive locally but nothing high speeds.
When the computer detects an engine/system related problem, it turns on the CEL, either gold, red, or flashing red. I'm guessing yours is gold, the least problematic one. When the CEL is lit up, the computer also disables features such as traction, stability, and cruise control. So you just have a minor problem that needs to be addressed sometime when you have time. The problem might be a minor engine problem, emissions fault, or it might just be a loose gas cap or clogged engine air filter. Drive normally, but not at excessive speeds.
