Ball park figure between 900 and 1400 bucks depending on the shops labor rate, what they find when they get in there. But first it should be diagnosed to determine if it is a servo motor, blend door, control unit or the core itself. As far as common, every unit will eventually fail, so every manufactured vehicle that has HVAC system will have trouble.

Mechanic replaced driver side servo part only, since that didn't require removing dashboard. Also, cold air was coming out that side.. Passenger side now has heat coming out of vents. Car has plenty of heat now. I was charged $350 vs $1000plus. Thanks for all advice.

Did they reset the system after the new parts? Some makes need a HVAC reset after repairs so the computer can read the doors full swing during the reset procedure.
