Timing chain installation

On my 2010 Nissan Versa 1.8 I installed a
head gasket. I marked the timing chain
links with orange paint in relation to the
matching marks on the cam sprockets
before I removed the timing chain. I didn't
mark the crankshaft sprocket nor did I
check to see if the crankshaft key is in the
12:00 position. I didn't turn the crankshaft
but I did have to remove both cams to
remove the head. On reassembly I
realigned the marks on the cams'
sprockets with the marked chain links ...
exactly as it came off the engine. Like I
said I didn't move the crank at all. There's
another chain at the bottom at the crank
sprocket which runs the oil pump and I
didn't touch that. Anyhow, it WON'T
START! I found a diagram online for this
particular engine and apparently the chain
has dark blue links which align to marks on
the  cam sprockets and a gold link which
aligns to a mark on the crank sprocket with
the crank key at 12:00 -- pointing straight
up. Does this engine have to be at "top
dead center" when its timing chain is
removed in order for the computer to reset
so the car will start? Help!
