Hear a "whistle" when accelerating?

I test-drove two 2010 Outback Ltds and heard a more pronounced whistle in one than the
other - though it existed in both. I'm wondering if this is normal/a problem/ related to the
CVT? The sound is a kind of whistle that gets higher in pitch as you step on the
accelerator, most noticeable between 30 and 50mph, and then drops in pitch as you let
up on the accelerator. Anyone else?

2010's as far as I'm aware do not have a CVT, they use a 4EAT auto trans, it could be a door not lined up quite right and leting air whistel through the weather seal. but without hearing the sound myself I honestly couldn't tell you for sure.

Subarus has cvt since 2010. The tribeca however uses a 5eat. You maybe hearing it from the roof rails if the are crossing the roof. The old body style had the issue with the door seals whistling.

we recently had a similar issue and it turned out to be the carrier bearing making a horrible whistling noise throughout the vehicle.
