Possible head gasket leak

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2010 Subaru Forester. It only has 55,000
miles. Dealer just said it may have has a weeping
drivers side head gasket. Is that even possible at
such low miles? Are they scamming me?

1 Answer

Yes it is possible. Scamming you? Maybe, maybe not. You may be able to live with the weeping for years before it become a serious issue. In the meantime get a opinion from a independent Subaru mechanic. This would partially depend of what is leaking, coolant or oil. If it is coolant use a stop leak like Subaru brand or perhaps Alumaseal and see if the coolant loss stops or slows down. A small oil leak that does not leave a puddle in your driveway is no biggie in my opinion.
