Ford Focus tire lock

I noticed when I park my car overnight on a slight
slope on gravel, then in the morning when I remove
the handbrake and put the car into neutral or in
gear with clutch pressed, it does not roll. I have to
gently press on the accelerator, it behaves as if I am
acting against parking brake. Then with a click
sound it unlocks and begin to move. I am confused
that is it a safety mechanism that takes burden off
the handbrake overnight or is it some fault.

I think the rear caliper piston is part of the E-brake , and there's a spring that retracts it but it's binding and applying the brake releases it , or it's designed that way .

I don’t know. I just got the car. But I think there isn’t any such device as I don’t particularly activate or deactivate anything when I park and when I start. What I observed is that it does not happen over short parking stays.
