In the market for a 2010 BMW 650i, heard they have a lot of transmission issues, is this true?

Asked by Porterman Apr 13, 2013 at 12:53 PM about the 2010 BMW 6 Series 650i Convertible RWD

Question type: Shopping & Pricing

I was looking on the internet for used BMW's 6 series and noticed a couple of sellers said the transmissions had been replaced. Is there something with the BMW's tranmissions? If so which series and year is affective most? Is a manual transmission better than an automatic? What does iDrive means? Would you recommend an extended warranty? What is the likely life span of a automatic transmission in the BMW 6 series?  Thanks

BMW IDrive is just computer operated controls for the heat A/C and navigation. Extended warranty, no.

I just had my transmission replaced on my 2010 650i, because it clunks when downshifting in normal in town driving. Unfortunately, it still does. Thank god, it was under warranty. Been at the local dealer for over 30 days in the last two months. I am over BMW's.
