Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2009 tacoma and my drivers window made a loud popping noise, followed by a grinding noise.  Window went all the way up but i dont want to use it again, fearing that i will do more damage.  Any idea what could cause this?  Sounds like window may be off the track.

Thank you Tom. I had to use the window this weekend and it went down half way and back up. Is it possible for the window to do that with a snapped cable? I stopped the window at the half way point b/c I could hear something bad would happen if I kept it going down. If that changes anything in your mind, please let me know. I appreciate your response!

It was not the regulator afterall. I pulled to door panel off to see what was going on and it was a simple fix. One screw that attaches to the window had come out and dropped into the door. After pulling off the door panel and seeing that, I put the screw back into place and I am good to go! Didnt cost a penny and my window works perfectly. I appreciate the assistance and I am even more grateful that I didnt need a new regulator!
