My optotometer

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My Optometer is whacking out! It registers
my speed at 20 miles over than what I am
actually going. Some numbers are flashing
in the corner of the number. What could be
the problem

Optometer? That thing eye doctors use to prescribe eyeglasses? What kind of crazy Honda are you driving? I'll assume you meant speedometer. There is a speed sensor for the speedo to report to the ECM, but it's usually a working/not-working type of part. First consult the owner's manual for what those other numbers are, maybe you have inadvertently switched the display to kilometers per hour instead of miles? Barring that, having undersized/oversized tires would throw off the speed sensor. (my suggestion is to first check dash is displaying MPH and not KPH).

It probably has Presbyopia and is need of reading glasses.
