GMC CANYON STALLS

Asked by GuruC67T5 Mar 07, 2019 at 04:59 PM about the 2009 GMC Canyon SLE-1 Crew Cab

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2009 GMC Canyon with about 117,000 miles on it.  It has a problem where it keeps wanting to stall when I'm driving it.  It stalls at stop lights, stalls when going around corners (left or right) stalls when driving in a straight line.  It has done it at different speeds.  The really strange thing is it only seems to happen in the evening between about 5:30 and 7:30.  It will stall and usually start back up with one to three tries.  some time it will do it 3 or 4 times in a row and then it runs just fine for a few more days and then it does it again.

have had it to two different shops including a GM dealer and they cannot replicate the problem during their normal business hours.  I have changed the Fuel Pump Control Module and have had the throttle body cleaned.  I have also put fuel stabilizer in it.  None of these things has solved the problem.  What can I tell them to possibly check that all of their fancy diagnostic equipment isn't showing them?

The answer. Replace the fuel system control module. Ive been dealing with this issue for about 2 years. Replaced $1000 worth of parts and labor with same issue. Come to find out there was a recall on this describing the stalling etc. Will be contacting dealership for recall replacement. Best of luck.
