A few questions about a 2005 Ford Escape Hybrid 4x4 2.3L battery and AC related

Hello,
Thank you for taking a moment to read these questions I have about my newly purchased Escape..

Here are the symptoms:

1: If I turn on max AC , the battery assist stops working completely. I have battery assist only (literally) when the AC selector is at the AC air recycled position. (listed as "AC" with a picture of the vehicle with the arrow showing the air flow.
Other than that specific position....I have no battery assist.

2: The windshield defroster works ..but any other air flow direction selected does not work.  (i.e. No air flow to the floorboard from either the AC nor the heater.

3: The vehicle refuses to go into "L" gear.  I mean...the gear shift will not go into the "L" position.   

4: From what I have read....the assist battery is cooled via the air conditioner....and...according to what I have read....one can open the battery filter compartment and open a door to check and see if the compartment inside is cool.
I have done that...and the compartment is not cool at all.
On the same note....I have had my AC serviced and refilled, but I only have cold air flow when the vehicle is traveling up an incline.   (Otherwise...it is blowing mid-temperature - to warm air.

Any thoughts on any of these ailments would be greatly appreciated.

If it’s thoughts your looking for, then here goes. You purchased one of the biggest lemons in history. I also have an 05 same car and actually they are decent for room but very prone to all sorts of problems. If it’s been under 30 days since you purchased the vehicle and it was not bought as is then the dealer you got it from should be liable. As for the not going into Low gear could be something caught in the selector. Either on the transmission side or the column side. Think about cables for a sec open ends connected at either side. The air problem is very odd indeed but could be a bad cabin air temp sensor, clogged cabin air filter, broken flapper that directs the air to what setting you choose, also could be a/c pressure or a/c temp sensor maybe. I use eBay for most of that stuff or rock auto. The battery assist? Idk I’ve never heard of that. Get yourself a decent diagnostic done. I do mine myself with a scanner that is specific for my vehicle that reads deep into the computers. If anything I hope something I said helps you get something fixed. Good luck
