transmission shutter at highway speeds

Asked by sjlarson Jan 28, 2011 at 04:51 PM about the 2005 Ford Escape XLT AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

At speeds between 60 abd 75 mph I occasionally experience a shutter or slight loss of power.  At one point the car lost all power. I pulled over and re-started the car and drove off normally. No warning lights are on.  I only experience issues with a warm car at highway speeds. Does anyone have any ideas whats going on here? I have 92,000 miles, all fluids are changed and maintained according to the manual. The dealer said the couldn't do anything without a warning light to pull the code.  I don't want to wait.  I appreciate any advice. Thanks

could be the tourk converter is going bad,or a sencor is going, but without it throwing a coad, dealer is right, but a TC going bad will not give a coad.
