Where is the oil pump located on a 2005 Ford Escape XLT

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2005 Ford Escapes oil light comes on at low idle and the engine makes a
knocking noise. The light goes out at higher rpm. I am going to change the oil
sensor but if that doesn't fix the problem I think it would probably be the oil
pump. Where is it located and is this a DIY job?

The oil pump is probably within the oil pan on the bottom of the motor .. I'd say hook up an oil pressure gauge to see if it's the pump but if she's a knockin' then I'd say it is , there may already be damage to the engine so if you replace/fix the pump you may have a problem down the road , it'll start with a tick and get worse , I think .
