Cooling fan won't shut off

The cooling fan won't shut off when I turn off the
engine I have to unplug the battery if not it will kill
my battery what is this problem?

I had same problem change the engine tempeture sending unit and it is fix now.

I have a 2009 Volkswagen CC... Same problem changed out the temp sensor next to the radiator on the driver side that didn't solve my problem... Any other suggestions?
