Make sure you have at least 12.6 volts at the battery. These cars will not start and the security system will not reset with less than 12.6 volts. If however your battery tests okay, do this: Turn the key to the ON position and leave it for ten minutes. This will 'reset' the ignition rotation sensor, which often goes bad in these cars. You may have to reset the security system after this. Go here: http://www.bsecorp.com/files/techtips/ST9303l.pdf. Good luck!

My car won't start after attempting to replace the freaking low beam headlight. I never knew changing a headlight could be so difficult. Once I pried it off, we screwed in the H11 light and next thing you know the car will not start. All the wires are intact, nothing else was removed or snapped. Once putting in the new light and turning on the light to check if it works, it makes a clicking noise and the door lock kept going up and down and the lights inside the car were dimming. This is car is making my stomach hurt. I got this car with 12,000 miles now it has 25,000. Practically new. Now it will not start, what the heck all because we replaced the headlight. Really!

Just started having this issue. Someone told me it was some type of antitheft/security thing in the ignition...a bad magnet that reads the key?? Anyways, guy said I'd need to have something replaced but said if I flip the key it should start. And believe it or not it has. Said the trick wouldn't always work though. Those that have tried resetting the key in the ignition has that solved the problem?

My 2010 Pontiac G6 would not start a lot if the time even though everything seemed fine. We learned after months of frstration that it was due to the wiring im the relay box in the trunk. We replaced the relax box (a $20) part and it has worked ever since.

I'm going to try every single one of these tips yall are giving cuz I had no idea where else to go with my 06 Pontiac g6 gt. I've had her for 10 yrs and I've never had a problem as great as this and unable to figure it out. Hopefully something will make it start cuz we've already put 500 maybe 600 into trying to fix and find the problem. Got a new battery starter thermostat alternator and ignition. It popped behind the radio and smoked a little. Were stumped some suggestions would be nice of which direction I should go next???. Its the only car I havs, I gotta take my little girl to school and take care of my 11mo baby too. Thanks a bunch

I fixed it! Relay box in the trunk needed to be replaced because the connections get too hot and wear out. $20 part

To check if the relax box is the problem, find the fuse/relax box on the drivers side of the trunk. When the car does not start, cool the fuel injector relay with an ice pack. The car will start right back up. Like I said a $20 part. Mechanics could not find this problem for me. They replaced the fuel injector for $600 which of course was mot the problem. One told me it was the security feature and a faulty key fob. The problem is insufficient wiring in the car. Whenever you have a problem with a 2009 Pontiac, first replace the wiring connections. I had issues with my trunk button, radio and speakers, headlights, and with not starting randomly after starting find minutes before with a new battery and alternator.

So I've tried just about everything. Only things left to try is back up key, a new key and programming or new car. Ugh. I love my car and has been through everything with my family plus its paid off and has good gas mileage lol. I'd hate to give up on my silver bullet. Any other ideas I could try??

all g6 owners first sorry you have a piece of gm junk! stearing recalled electronics, chech inline fuseble link to starter its hidden above starter breaks or exploeds, these cars have starters next to exushts manifold lmao if you ideal these cars for two hours like doushebag above the starter will overheat! never let car run in idiol for more than few minutes. the starter is push button only ith a key the 9v are joined by 4 more two way starter system for second to start car then relay closes. if you cranck these cars like other cars and hold key forward it melts the inline fuzible link to starter! onstar system shuts down these cars unplug the spy device under behind glovebox. the dealership puts hidden gps trackers that also goes bad under dash if you change batterys or anything in these cars there bias systems and could reset sucurity ect... check all ground wires wiggle them. check fuzes, relays, to resest sucurity systems hold key in door drivers door only. for 30 seconds in unlock postion then wiggle key both directions but dont open door this gets system to reconize key, also put key in run position for ten minutes sit inside car or make sure door latch is closed with screwdriver dont get locked out! you should all unplud gps devises and onstar there listening to you, tracking you, reports if seat belts on, where you are and been! and shuts down cars in dangerous places have murdered hundreds of people this way accidents. never open trunk or passagenger first sets alram always open drivers door with key first alram wont set off. disable alarms people just unplug them and plug back factory harness some may have to cut two wires and rejoin them bif whoop. faulty wiring from china in all these cars extreme weather cold or hot makes them not start, wait a while it may start latER! Parasetic load tests. first learn to put the car to sleep. your gonna need ohm meter that reads .050 on down to .010. I found the grounding clips all over these g6's are ready to fail. But the main causes of most of problems are. Ready for this? Your Ground terminal wire from battery to transmission. That baby causes the most irratic problems you will ever find. Fuses blown, to bcms malfunctions, MAINLY: YEP HERE GOES-THE ANSWER(BATTERY DRAINS DEAD/KILLS BATTERIES)(CHECK THE BLACK TERMINAL FIRST ALWAYS)(.03-OHMS LESS TO GROUND-WIGGLED AT CONTACT POINTS)
