Check Engine Light and Temp Gauge

Asked by GeofWallin1988 Apr 21, 2019 at 08:44 AM about the 2009 Chevrolet Aveo 5 LT Hatchback FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Last night while driving my car my check
engine light came on and the temp gauge
started acting funny. It went up like it was
overheating then went almost all the way
down and then back to just below normal.
Then it would go down and back to just
below normal and then jump up and then
back to normal and then down again but the
engine never showed signs of overheating
and it ran just fine any ideas.

those sound like signs of over heating , check coolant level and replace the thermostat if you want , the one in there is probably cheap crap like everything else . Find an AC-delco OEM auto parts store
