Is it worth fixing a 2009 Subaru Forester? Need oil pan gasket and brakes done

It's up to you if you want to put the money into it and like driving it. For that old a vehicle, I would think your also due for the dreaded head gasket. A friend of mine traded theirs in for that reason for a newer one.

Not knowing the condition of the car I would say yes. The 2009 cars have fewer head gasket problems than older cars.

I would do those repairs. But if the head gasket or something else major goes, it'll be time to move on. Hope that helps! Jim

Js has this one.... There's no such thing as being "due" for an HG failure, although there is a somewhat Gaussian curve about it. Sorry, FOR, but 2009 HGs are just as bad as 2000-2008. Resealing a simple oil pan gasket, however, is a dirty LITTLE job, as you have to clean up the surfaces and use that super-sticky Fuji-Bond or similar goop. This is a PITA 1-2 hour job at most. OTOH, if the leak is minor maybe you can quench it nicely by using a thicker weight motor oil. Early 2.5i HATE 0w or 5w oils, so use 10w40...or even 20w50 in summer and see if the diaper dries up a bit.
