Asked by GuruTHSS8 Jul 02, 2018 at 11:27 AM about the 2008 GMC Envoy SLE-1 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2008 gmc envoy will not start.
Have full battery power but will not
start. Turn the key to the on position
there is no clicking what so ever. New
battery was bought 2 weeks ago. So i
came across a technique that i would
have to temporally program the key.
Done that and still nothing. Im lost,
can anyone help me on this or what
should i do!

Battery connections are all good? Any electrical components work? If not, use a test light at your fuse box, check fuses for voltage. Some fuses hot all the time, some go hot with key on. The diagram is for your starter motor. Not only check the fuses, use the test lite and check voltage on fuse circuit. See the starter relay, can you remove it? the reason I ask, If you can remove it, we can do testing to see if starter motor will crank the engine. The diagram didn't show any terminal numbers for the relay, sometimes that means the relay is soldered into fuse box and you can't pull it out. As far as the starter motor the neutral switch is also involved. Any testing at starter motor make sure tranny is in park or neutral and parking brake is set. Two voltage circuits at starter motor. One comes from the battery, hot all the time, the other circuit goes hot with key in the crank position and relay is energized. The starter motor grounds through the engine block. Grounds are important, also.

Could it by any chance be the ignition switch. The key switch was replaced 6 months ago. Im listening to all available options. Since this is my wifes vehicle i need a happy wife and i need my truck back.

See the crank fuse in diagram that gets voltage from crank position of ignition switch. Use a test light, check voltage on that fuse, with key in crank position. If nothing there, have to check feed to and from ignition switch. Yes, ignition switch is involved. The diagram was so big, I didn't get in the picture. Believe me, I understand about the wife, we do try to keep-em happy.
