Tmps will not go out why?

Asked by Wendt Feb 13, 2013 at 01:42 PM about the 2008 Nissan Titan SE King Cab 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

When Tmps first came on one tire had 32 psi in it, rest all said 35.. Made sure all had recommended psi in them..
Sensor stayed after 50 miles.. Put 60 psi in and have driven it another 50 miles.. Still on.. Can you help??

It has to be re set. Inflating the tires does not re set it.

Brand new tires will pick up nails and screws on the road as fast as an old one

No leaks can be found.. When letting air back down to 35 psi. Checked first and all said 60 that I tried earlier

If the tire pressure is too low, a "Low Tire Pressure" light will appear on the dash. There is no button to manually reset this system. According to the Titan's owner manual, the tire pressure must be checked, and the truck must be driven to reset the system.

Wendt, it's all Ok We cool. I really don't care about the points I have many I just think you got confused, you gave a best answer to "check the spare" then inform us, which i did not know, you taught me that, the spare has no sensor.. I hope what i found above helps. The light may not be going off because you had TOO MUCH air, it detects any anomaly in tire pressure. Now that you have them at the proper inflation, drive it normally and it should, will, go off. Good Day Wendt

I had a similar problem. Turned out the tire valve stem had a particle of dirt in it. The valve stem should be metal and not rubber.

if the light flashes and then goes solid then there's a problem with the system (bad sensor, not programmed, ect.) the tires should be at 35 psi according to sticker on door no more than 37-38. if the light is on solid and does not flash first then there's a low tire but if the system is working then driving it will reset light. so if it flashes for a bit first then you'll have to get it diagnosed as there is a problem with the tpms system.

always check the spare, I don't care what they say some good drivers still rotate their tires including the spare

Nissan spares do not have sensors. I haven't seen anybody rotate spare in years. that's pretty oldschool.

a lot of new cars have no spare at all, . nor trans. oil stick for that matter,. and that's why.
