How did it go out? Is it a fuse or a cable for the trans? There had to be some issues before hand or strange shifting that would result in a catastrophic failure. A lot of times in a Nissian a bad alternator actually shows as transmission failure to engage! Lastly did you attempt to shift into neutral, several times of you have to, before shifting into R or D?

The car shifted but won't move when in D or R. After i have the carrier suspension installed the car would strain going down big hills, so i had to put it in neutral to alleviate pressure on transmission.
