windshield mounting bracket or frame

Asked by Guru95DMN2 Dec 28, 2020 at 01:59 PM about the 2008 Honda Civic LX

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I hit an animal on the road and it broke out the windshield and bent the frame
that holds the windshield at the bottom on the driver's side.  My question is, can
this metal piece be replaced? Is there a replacement part available? I cannot
find anything online.

F_O_R thank you for responding. I really do appreciate it. However, the question asked was, is there a replacement frame part for the bottom of the windshield. The fender, hood, and bumper are a piece of cake to replace. I have done it on many cars. There is little if any other damage. If there is a part please let me know.

The windshield frame is a structure support of the vehicle. If it was just the cowl piece, you could replace that yourself. What about the other damage, are you going to fix that too? That is nothing you can repair yourself, contact an auto body shop, they would need to evaluate the damage. Did your auto insurance adjuster total the vehicle and you are going to buy it back? I personally think due to the damage, it's time for another vehicle.

Thank you for your answer. Since I don't have collision on my insurance I don't think they would cover anything. I just have the state minimum. Probably the best move at this point is to part it out or just sell it for the engine and transmission, which are still good.
