Possible Transmission Slip 2008 2.5L Nissan Altima

Asked by Stubasaurus Sep 03, 2019 at 04:50 PM about the 2008 Nissan Altima 2.5

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The car has started this issue for the past few months where pressing on the
pedal will lead to an rpm increase but no change in gear. Then it will "jump"
and kick itself into gear jerking the car to the point where it feels like the car
is struggling to run. It is most noticeable when taking off from idling and is
less noticeable in higher gears but still happens. No check engine light. Was
told this might be a bad MAF or transmission trouble. Any way to pin point
the problem? If so, is this a job I could do myself? TIA

Your car uses a CVT transmission, have it diagnosed by a transmission shop or dealer service department. There is no DIY for the issue you are having. Nissan has had issues with their transmission lasting.
