Can I use a 5.3 engine block from a earlier year chevy truck???

Asked by kenbo Jan 14, 2021 at 12:44 AM about the 2008 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 2LT Crew Cab RWD

Question type: General

Ok I need help guys... I own a 2008 chevy silverado, my
engine is toast with 275k miles... I have been searching
around and basically my engine runs from $1500 to
$2500!!!!!  So I'm trying to save some money. My truck
unfortunately has DOD (DISPLACEMENT ON DEMAND).
SO MY QUESTION IS THIS..... Can I get a good engine block
from salvage yard and use all my old parts to build the
engine back up?? Of course I'll have my heads machined!!
But by doing that all my electrical would all go back like
stock! At least that's how I'm thinking . Does any body
see anything wrong with this if so plz help me in the right
direction

Can you get a good used engine from a salvage yard? Maybe. You might as well have yours rebuilt.
