Gauges and panel lights......

Asked by Stephanie Sep 16, 2017 at 01:45 PM about the 2008 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 1LT Extended Cab RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 08 Chevy Silverado 1500. Left keys in
ignition, started it up, and the oil pressure gauge
and temp gauge wasn't working, as well as the
gear shifter line light. Also the seatbelt and airbag
light stayed on, after I buckled. So, I turned truck
off, removed the keys, then put keys back in
ignition and restarted, wah lah!!  Mysteriously
everything went back to normal! Can anyone tell
me why this would happen?? Is this going to lead
to a more complicated issue??

You need a new Dash Cluster, it is a common problem. My 2003 had same problem, found a new one and watched a video on how to take out. Whole job takes about 20 mins. Just 4 screws and wiggle it out and there is one plug in and push in the clips and it comes right out. Put new one in, save old one as you need to send it back. All gauges worked the dash lites were brighter. But that is usually the problem.
