Possibility a sensor in the trunk that is malfunctioning as I know the 'boot lid' is closed. The power top will not work when this warning is active. Open the trunk lid and close it firmly then give it a push downward to be certain it's contacting the sensor. ( temporary solution) IF this works there are two tiny micro switches located inside of the rear door's lock. Those switches are monitoring the status of the door and the Cargo Area lights. I suggest inspecting them, I use a MB STAR C4 to scan for codes on RCM roof control modules along with computer DTC codes. The key fob can be checked after the "Truck Open" light is off.

Hi All Had this problem in my wife’s 2009 sl550. Turns out that a simple adjustment to the thing ( not tech term sorry) that the latch grabs on to was not aligned properly. There is a small access panel inside the trunk. A little fiddling and all is good now.

As I recall there were no beeps when I had the problem. Their car did lock, but no beep or light flash. However, .everything worked perfectly after adjusting the latch holder in the trunk. I did not need anything else. Good luck hope it works for you too.

Same problem, I have a 2007 550 SL and it kept showing that the trunk was not closed. I went in the tiny control panel, it has flower shaped ratchet screws. Loosened them and adjusted the height of the latch. Tightened i5 back up and problem solved!

Watch "assisting" your trunk lid to close. I did this on my 2009 SL 550 and caused one of the flaps that fold up to come loose. $1,500.00 fix.

2013 SL 550, trunk will not close, top is down, I was told that it is the hydraulic pump cylinder that controls the trunk, not sure if this is the issue, any suggestions.
