Engine lite is on

I has a mechanic tell me the bearings were going in my alternator,,causing the engine to
run much louder then normal and now my check engine lite is on. Could this be the
problem?

Why don't you believe your mechanic? You can get the codes read for free at AutoZone or Advanced Auto Parts.
